Social & Fundraising
The club also thrives in fundraising and orchestrating social gatherings, fostering a sense of camaraderie and unity among members and the communities they serve. Fellowship is an important aspect of rotary life. Rotary was originally conceived as an organisation which leverages friendship and social interaction as an opportunity for service. Our members, partners and friends enjoy meeting up socially. While many of these are regular features in our club calendar, we also have spontaneous functions. Some of the social gatherings double up as fundraising events too. North Leeds Charity Beer Festival, Summer BBQ, Christmas dinner with carol singing, Burns Night, President’s Trip and Quiz Night are some of the regular events in the club calendar.
North Leeds Charity Beer Festival
This is the primary fund raising event for the club. 2025 event was the thirteenth year of the event which raised over £16,500. Over the years over £102,500 has been raised and donated to charities
Summer BBQ
The club holds a summer BBQ which has now become a regular feature in the club calendar. In its eighth year, the club raised over £1700. It is a fun event which gets Rotarians, families and friends together. Over the years we have raised in excess of £7000 for charities
Christmas Celebration
Celebrating the festive season with an unforgettable Christmas party. Members and guests come together, sharing joy, laughter, and the spirit of giving, making it a memorable evening that highlighted the club’s camaraderie and commitment to community bonding.
Burns Night
Another regular feature in the club calendar is Burns Night celebrated in January. As well as whisky tasting there are readings of the works of Robert Burns and haggis is served, paraded in with a bagpipe accompaniment – a truly memorable evening.
Wine Bluff
In November, the club hosted a successful ‘Wine Bluff’ event, raising over £1,500. Enthusiastically attended by club members, partners, guests and members of the Rotary Club of Leeds, the event was a testament to the success of collaborative working.
President Trip March 2023
In March 2023, members of the club, partners and friends went on a four-day trip to Guisborough organised by then club President Raghu. A day was spent exploring Whitby and also visited the National Museum of the Royal Navy in Hartlepool.
Morley Glass and Glazing
In November 2022, the dedicated club members, accompanied by their partners, embarked on an insightful visit to Morley Glass and Glazing. There, they had the opportunity to witness first-hand the intricacies and operations of a successful Yorkshire business and regional entrepreneuship
