Leeds Rotary Clubs Sponsored Walk 2026
Walking For a World Without Dementia
Dementia affects millions of families across the UK. While progress has been made, there is still no cure – but together we can help bring promising research closer to reality.
This September, we come together once again, walking at Temple Newsam to raise funds for vital Alzheimer ’s research and to show what a community can do when it pulls together

WHY IT MATTERS
Supporting Alzheimer’s Research UK
The Walk was launched by Headingley Rotarian Drew Dodds in September 2024 to support Alzheimer ’s Research UK. Inspired by its success, Drew brought together seven local Rotary Clubs in September 2025 to build on that success. What began as one club ’s project quickly grew into a wider shared commitment – turning personal experience into positive action and making a real difference.
For many involved, this cause is personal. The event was founded by Drew in support of his wife Isobel, following her Alzheimer ’s diagnosis in 2020 . Isobel died in October last year, and Drew in November – both are greatly missed, but the walk continues in the same practical, determined spirit which they both demonstrated so clearly.
