The Rotary Young Citizen Awards, which have celebrated numerous young leaders since their debut in 2007, are commemorating their 15th year. Initiated by my previous supervisor at BBC News, Kevin Bakhurst, the former head of BBC News24, in partnership with Rotary International in Great Britain & Ireland, these awards aimed to counter the frequent negative portrayal of the youth in the media. They highlight the admirable efforts of young individuals dedicated to making a positive impact both in their communities and worldwide.
